Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and FrozenBox, a trading name of Christian Bamani ("we", "us") for your use of the Holdfast app. By downloading or using Holdfast you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. What Holdfast does

Holdfast stores photos and details of your personal documents on your device, reads expiry dates from photos, shows how long each document has left, and schedules reminders. Holdfast Pro adds further features described in the app.

2. Important: check the dates yourself

Holdfast helps you remember. It does not replace your own attention, and it is not legal, immigration, travel, insurance or financial advice.

• Reading dates is automatic and can be wrong. Text recognition can misread a photo or pick the wrong date. Always confirm that the date Holdfast shows matches your document.
• Deadlines are estimates. Suggested "renew by", "give notice by" and similar dates use general assumptions, such as the six-month passport validity rule many countries apply, or typical processing times. The real rules depend on your country, the issuing authority, your contract and your destination. Check them with the relevant authority or provider.
• Reminders can fail to arrive. Notifications depend on your phone's settings, battery and operating system. If notifications are turned off, or the app is removed, you will not be reminded.

You remain responsible for renewing your documents on time.

3. Your content

Photos and information you add stay yours, and we claim no rights in them. They are stored only on your device; we do not hold a copy and cannot recover them if your phone is lost, reset or the app is deleted. Export a backup if you want one. Backups are not encrypted, so keep them somewhere safe.

Only add documents you have the right to store, such as your own or those of people who have agreed.

4. Holdfast Pro and payments

• The first three documents are free. Holdfast Pro is offered as a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, at the prices shown in the app before you buy.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
• If we change a subscription price, Apple or Google will tell you in advance and, where required, ask for your consent.
• A lifetime purchase gives Holdfast Pro for as long as we offer and support Holdfast on your platform. It is tied to your App Store or Google Play account.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies. We cannot issue refunds directly.
• Use "Restore purchases" in the app to regain Pro on a new device signed into the same store account.

5. Acceptable use

Do not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the app except as the law allows, and do not use it to break any law or to store documents belonging to others without permission.

6. Our rights

Holdfast, its name, design and code belong to us and our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, under these terms and the store's usage rules. We may update, change or stop offering features or the app.

7. No warranty

To the extent the law allows, Holdfast is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including that it will be error-free, that dates will be read correctly, or that reminders will always be delivered.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for losses arising from an expired or lapsed document, a missed renewal, deadline, journey or claim, or a misread date. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Holdfast in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

9. Ending these terms

You can stop using Holdfast at any time by deleting it; remember to cancel any subscription in your store account. We may end your licence if you seriously break these terms.

10. Apple App Store terms

If you downloaded Holdfast from the Apple App Store:

• These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
• If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
• We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability, failure to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection, and intellectual property claims.
• You confirm you are not in a country subject to a US government embargo, and are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, except where the law of your country of residence gives you protections that cannot be waived.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, tell you in the app. Continuing to use Holdfast after a change means you accept the new terms.
